when we grow up

We want grow up to be a small giant one day. Kind of like a small, friendly, mindful, innovative giant. Roald Dahl would probably come up with something more creative.

However, the niche of small giants is admirable. They strive to:
  1. Share a higher purpose than just a paycheck.
  2. Remind people in special and unexpected ways that the company cares for and appreciates them. In doing so, people will bring their human vulnerabilities with them to work every day.
  3. Build a culture of collegiality, where colleagues are united in a common purpose and respect diversity.
  4. Focus on long-term quality over short-term growth.

Well, that's great. But how? Here are a few ideas:
  • Mandatory 4 weeks' vacation time for all employees
  • Half-day Fridays where the office closes at noon
  • Pooled employee investment fund
  • Long-term incentives based on company performance
